On a serious note, it amazes me how many people talk about how much their country/system/whatever sucks but these same people offer no actual solutions (laws/policy/constitution/etc)

Or their solutions/ideas don't work

As a resident of a developed "first world' country, here's my opinion

Point 1: Most people (in developed countries) know their lives aren't bad per say, but things can easily be so much better with just a few tweaks.
Point 2: These tweaks (referring to laws/policy) are simple and should be implemented already, but the current ruling class do not want these policies as it could strip them away of some of their power, even if said ruling class knows it will make society overall better
Point 3: Most people (in developed countries) see that their country is no longer improving and in fact, their country is declining at an exponential rate (whether that's through increase in crime, increase in cost of living, shortage of goods,  devaluation of currency, etc). Therefore, these people will claim their life is "bad". It's true in a sense, that their lives are "bad' in comparison to what they use to be.
Point 4: Even if your life is "good", if others (in a concentrated decreasing amount) have it better and better, you will "hate" your life. Simple word; Inequality.

For me personally, my big complaint is that the law is not enforced equally among my fellow citizens. If you're rich, you can get the best lawyers, favorable judges, and always get a slap on the wrist.

Anyone who claims their lives are bad because of a country and they live in a first-world country are likely spoiled. I also agree with what Fzerowii said. I don't really know what Cealgair is trying to say, however

I meant to say that it's possible, for example, to be in a free country and starve. Which was not the point of the conversation but whatever I felt like I had to point it out
