CTGP Channel to play Online, and HBC to WiiLauncher are about as efficient as it's gonna get.
For connecting online with cheats:
Impossible to do it with CTGP
There hasn't been any cheat code created to allow Disc users to connect on Wiimmfi (cuz Wiimmfi server requires many patches), but it shouldn't be too tough to make. What ppl do is use ISO/WBFS files (after running the Wiimmfi ISO patcher on their computer) in USB sticks and play through a program called USB Loader GX. The GX program will load your GCT file and apply codes (an option in Settings called Ocarina that you need to turn ON).
The use of ISO/WBFS files with the USB Loader requires Softmodding the Wii. There's a softmod guide on these forums but it's a full on major softmod that includes a lot of other unrelated things. You can instead follow a more concise guide here -->>

That will install cIOS software to your Wii. Afterwards you need to rip the WBFS file off your Disc -

You will then have the WBFS on your USB stick to play with. You can put the USB stick in your computer and move the WBFS to your Desktop. Then run the Wiimmfi ISO patcher

And finally a tutorial to teach you how to add WBFS files back to the USB stick -
https://mkwii.com/showthread.php?tid=121 Don't forget to remove the old non-Wiimmfi WBFS file off your USB before adding the Wiimmfi one on.
CAUTION: Regarding Wiimmfi, do NOT have any codes on when joining a WW or Regional. Technically some codes are allowed (like certain Visual/HUD stuff, but I wouldn't take the chance with how Bans are dished out). Just play it safe and only run codes in private rooms with the consent of the host. There is however a special regional called WHackR which allows codes. VR/BR Hacks are banned everywhere, fyi, don't use them.

For ALTWFC you use the No SSL code and Domain Name Changer code. Then add in w/e other codes you want. But ALTWFC is very inactive and WW's are plagued with "4TL/Lulz Hackers"...
